FREQUENTLY ASKED QEUSTIONS ABOUT OTOPLASTY SURGERY
A small incision is made in the inside front of the ear through which the skin and cartilage are lifted from the back. Three stitches are then placed around the ear to “refurl” it and create a “new shape.”
What to expect after your surgery: Your ears will be lightly bandaged and anyminimal discomfort you may experience will be controlled with oral pain medication. The bandages will be removed 1-2 days following surgery and stitches usually in 1-3 weeks.
About returning to normal:
- Up and about in 1-2- days
- Can shower and shampoo hair after bandage removal
- Return to work etc. in about 2 weeks
- Need to take it easy for usually 1 week
- Limit activity for 2 weeks
Who usually has this surgery performed? Our patients are from all walks of life in all ages and stages. Children even as young as 4 years old can have this procedure safely and effectively. If you have the concerns we’ve mentioned above…this may be right for you.
Where is the surgery performed? This is an out-patient procedure that we perform right in our office “State-of-the-Art” surgical suite.
