Facelift Before and After Photos

FACELIFT (Rhytidectomy) …Today we have a different attitude about aging…we know that we don’t have to allow the ravages of time to make us look “older.” There are many options available that men and women are taking advantage of…facelift is one of them. We cannot stop the aging process… but we can turn back the clock!

BENEFITS OF FACE LIFT SURGERY:

  • Face lift surgery removes excess (loose and sagging) skin
  • Face lift surgery tightens underlying tissues
  • Face lift surgery removes excess fatty deposits
  • Face lift surgery tightens and smoothes to reduce and eliminate wrinkles, creases, lines, jowls.
  • Face lift surgery restores a fresher, firmer…more youthful appearance!

Everyone has an idea of what a facelift is, but facial rejuvenation surgery is increasingly specific: traditional face lift, mid-facelift, mini-facelift, necklift, and endoscopic brow lift, eyelid lift or maybe just Botox and lip augmentation. Maybe all you want is just a nip and tuck around the jowls. There is no one solution to address the aging face. With new instruments, better techniques, and more concern with facial anatomy your original notion of what a facelift is now is a thing of medicine's past.

The original concept is still the same---lift up and plump up what age and gravity have taken. For this reason we do not have just a single solution, such as the facelift of the past. The treatment(s) now are vast. Surgical procedures and nonsurgical procedures offer many options to correct the aging face. How do you approach your concerns.....

FACE LIFT OPTIONS:

  1. Silhouette Lift - this has no major incisions or scars and provides excellent results. Silhouette Lift can correct the following: brow, midface/cheeks and nasolabial folds
  2. Limited Scar Facelift - Dr. Lois has developed a technique that uses shorter skin incisions…so less scarring. It addresses sagging jowls and skin by removing excess skin and "tucking up" the fat, muscle and connective tissues to their place of youth. Limited scar face lift can correct the following: sagging jowls, loose or excess skin and fat without the extensive incisions behind the ear.
  3. Full or Traditional Facelift - The full face lift is more aggressive in tightening up sagging jowls, sagging lower face, loose skin and some facial wrinkles. It usually includes a necklift.

QUESTIONS OUR PATIENTS ASK ABOUT FACE LIFT SURGERY:

What’s involved in face lift surgery? At The Aesthetic Institute we offer three different options for face lift surgery: Full face lift, Limited scar face lift and the Threadlit. We will discuss the full face lift and the limited scar face lift. Depending on which procedure you choose, will determine the surgery, recovery and results.

Who is a good candidate for a face lift surgery? Today people in their early 40’s and older are having face lifts done. Many patients in their mid 40's and later opt for less surery and fewer scars -- they are ideal candiates for the limited scar facelift. Some want complete rejuvenation and require a full facelift. We successfully help men and women alike who are in good health and concerned about the early signs of aging that show up in the face. Being able to set realistic goals is essential to experiencing a satisfactory outcome.

How is a face lift performed? Working through small, hidden incisions in the hairline and normal skin creases…the skin is separated from the underlying fat and muscle. Excess fat is removed by trimming or liposuction and then the muscles and membranes are tightened after which the excess skin is pulled back and removed. Sutures secure the layers of tissue and close the incisions.

How long does face lift surgery take? It usually takes several hours depending on what you have done and if you. Many patients choose to have a browlift or other procedure done at the same time.

How uncomfortable is face lift surgery? There is some discomfort following your surgery….it is usually minimal and can be controlled with pain medication. Some numbness of the skin is very common but goes away in a few weeks. Bruising and swelling also gradually decrease as healing takes place.

When can I expect to be back to normal?

  • You should be up and about in 1-2 days
  • Plan to take it easy for 1 week after surgery
  • Be gentle with your face and hair …you’ll be tender
  • Avoid strenuous activity for 2 weeks …walking and mild stretching are allowable
  • Avoid alcohol, steam baths and saunas…for several months
  • Get plenty of rest…eat a nutritious diet
  • You should be able to return to work within 10-14 days
  • Camouflage makeup can be worn to cover bruising
  • Healing and final visible results take time….be patient!

Where is brow lift surgery performed? This is done in our accredited office surgical suite on an out-patient basis.

Are there potential risks or complications from brow lift surgery? Rarely. When you have this surgery performed by a qualified plastic surgeon, risk or complications are extremely rare! Excessive bleeding, infection and/or reaction to anesthesia can occur….but rarely do if patients follow the surgeons instructions completely.

What can I expect postoperatively?

  • Your face will be lightly bandaged
  • Discomfort is minimal but controlled with oral pain medication
  • Bandages are removed 1-2 days after surgery
  • Stitches are removed within 1-3 weeks
  • You may shower and wash your hair after bandage removal
  • You may be back to work within 10-14 days
  • Energy levels take time to return to normal…strenuous activity is to be avoided….get lots of rest and eat nutritious foods
  • Use our Jane Iredale Mineral makeups to protect during healing

Your personal consultation: During this time we’ll take a complete medical history and discuss in detail your concerns and options. We’ll also give you complete instructions to prepare for your surgery. These may include:

  • Stop smoking for 1 week before and 2 weeks after surgery
  • Take only the medications/vitamins prescribed by the doctor
  • Take the homeopathic remedy (Arnica) the day before surgery and for 7-10 days following surgery. This helps reduce the effects of bruising and swelling.
  • Get plenty of rest!

A facelift is a common procedure today with outstanding end results! We cannot stop the processes “Mother nature” …but we can and do effectively restore much of what she takes away!
